Elevating Business Analysts in Cybersecurity: Unveiling your Crucial Role Tue January 23rd, 7:00-8:30PM ET   Cybersecurity is the protection of networks, computers, and intellectual property from theft or damage. Its goal is to avoid unauthorized information disclosure and disruption to the integrity or availability of services.  Unfortunately, cybersecurity risks exist in places often overlooked by operations leaders. The untold numbers of devices in our world and their expanding interconnectivity increase risks exponentially.  The impact of cybersecurity incidents on your organization can be expensive and disruptive, and the number of incidents is on the rise. For example, according to an NTT Global Threat Intelligence report from May 2021, the manufacturing sector experienced a 300% increase in worldwide cyber-attacks since the start of the COVID pandemic. These attacks include well-publicized incidents such as the Colonial Pipeline and JBS but also hundreds of others impacting companies large and small.   So, how can you as a BA help?  In this session, Evan Erwee will help us understand the role of the BA as cybersecurity enablers by bridging the gap between business goals and security needs.  This includes identifying security requirements, collaborating across business functions, analyzing vulnerabilities & risks, and converting the confusing jargon of security to something your business leaders can understand.  Evan will share tools, techniques and collaboration skills you can use to 'get the job done' in this growing business area of focus. Evan Erwee is a Specialist Leader and Chief Architect with Deloitte's Risk & Financial Advisory practice.  Evan has over 30 years experience as a technologist, focusing on building high-performance teams that develop 1st line cybersecurity solutions and 2nd line security assurance requirements.  Evan is currently leading the development of Deloitte's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) offering -- a key tool for managing purchased package software security.   Evan brings strong business analysis tools to his cybersecurity work, such as critical and design thinking, brainstorming, and creative problem solving.  He applies these skills to both understand the core problem and validate the recommended solutions.
